May Spending

I can't believe it's the end of the month already! That means it's time to link up with Fran and the other budgeting bloggers to share my purchases for May!

I guess I was on a bottoms kick this month! (excuse all the wrinkles- I took a couple pictures quickly after unpacking a couple pieces)

1. White capris (Denizen from Target): $24.99
2. Peach capris (Old Navy Boyfriend): $15.00
3. Chevron maxi (a.n.a. petite from J.C. Penney): $19.99
4. Aztec maxi (Mossimo from Target): $14.39
5. Sandals (Merona from Target): $15.00

Total = $89.37 - $40 (various cash I had that I don't count towards my budget) = $49.37

I usually don't like spending more than $20 per item of clothing (I'm cheap, I know!) so in that regard I think I did well. Hopefully I'll get a lot of use of all these items this summer! I know the cost-per-wear on my sandals is super low already! They are super comfortable!

Finally Feels Like Summer!

Hello! I hope you all had a good, long weekend this past week. Hubby and I took a road trip down to Wyoming to see some friends who just had the sweetest baby! We then went home through South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and do some major hiking! I'd never been to South Dakota before, so it was fun to see some things I've only seen in pictures!

I don't know about you, but I'm so excited it finally feels like summer! 80's all week! I'll definitely take any warm weather after the winter we had. So on that note, I mentioned before how we don't have internet at our house yet, so I'm doing all my blogging during my lunch breaks at work. Since the weather is so nice, I honestly would rather be outside during lunch taking walks instead of being inside on the computer. So until we get internet at our house, my blogging over the summer may be a bit sparse (unless I get the motivation over the weekend to do some blogging ahead!). Hopefully you'll stick around with me and keep reading! It really means a lot to me every single person who reads or comments on my blog!

Here is the most recent outfit I have pictures of. I wore it early last week, when the weather was just starting to get nice!

Dress: Target
Blazer: Goodwill
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Edith Marie
Bracelets: Target

I got this dress about 2 years ago from Target and it's one of my favorites! I love the color and it's super flowy and cool, perfect for summer! Now if only my clothes wouldn't get so wrinkled during the day I'd be set! :)

Black and White

I was planning my outfits for this week over the weekend (which hardly ever happens!) and saw that Monday was supposed to be mid-60's with rain. So pants it was. I also pulled out this shirt that I haven't worn in quite awhile. I think it shrunk in the wash a bit at one point, but oh well. You can't really tell from the pictures.

Yeah, not sure what I'm laughing about in this picture, but breaks up the monotony of my regular pictures :)

Shirt: Old Navy
Pants: The Limited
Shoes: Target
Bracelet: Gift
Earrings: Gift (I actually took these pictures the night before I wore this outfit and ended up wearing a different pair. So goes life)

With the flowy top and wide-leg pants, it almost has a 70's vibe to it too. You also can't go wrong with the classic black and white combo. It's always a good go-to when you can't figure out what else to wear.

Chambray for Summer

Hello ladies! (and maybe gentlemen??) I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours went by super fast. I'm hoping this week goes by fast too, because we have some fun plans for Memorial Day weekend!

I was trying to come up with ideas for a blog post today, because I didn't wear anything blog-worthy this weekend. So instead, I put together some different ways you can wear your chambray in the warmer weather! (Well, warmer to us right now is high 60's, low 70's) I've worn a couple of these outfits on the blog already, but put together a few more for you all.

1. I think this might be my favorite outfit of the five! A simple look that, I think, would be great for traveling! I always say maxi's are like dressy pajamas :) Can't go wrong with that!

Chambray: Old Navy
White Tank: Old Navy
Maxi: Express
Sandals: Target
Necklace: Gift
Hat: Target

2. The second way is to use it in place of a cardigan when you get cold! Super lightweight, but does the trick to keep you warm on those cool, summer nights.

Chambray: Old Navy
Shorts: The Limited
Tank: Target
Sandals: Target
Bracelets: Target
Necklace: The Limited
Just a side note, but I just got these sandals over the weekend at Target for about $15 and they are fabulous! The insoles are very cushy and are super comfortable to walk in! Here is a link to them.

3. This outfit was one I wore last month on the blog. Here is the original post

Chambray: Old Navy
Maxi: Old Navy
Flats: Old Navy
Necklace: Edith Marie
Bracelets: Target

4. This look is pretty much the same as look #2, but I tucked the shirt into the shorts and it gives the outfit a new look! (Forgive me that the tucking looks kind of messy- I did it really quick in-between pictures and didn't look in a mirror)

Chambray: Old Navy
Shorts: The Limited
Sandals: Target
Necklace: The Limited
Bracelets: Target

5. Here is the last look paired with my white capris. This was originally posted here.

Chambray: Old Navy
Capris: Target
Sandals: hand-me-downs
Necklace: Gift

How do you like to wear your chambray during the warmer months?

Pink, White, and Teal: Take 3?

Yup, I'm posting this shirt for a second time this week. But, in my defense, I wore the outfit I posted on Monday last week. So that makes it okay. And yup, I'm wearing another variation of coral (pink), white, and teal/turquoise. Because I love it and it's springy. The end.

Skirt: The Loft
Shirt: Target
Sweater: Banana Republic Outlet
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Forever 21
Earrings: Etsy

I actually really love how this outfit came together. The top kind of has a 'crocheted' look to it, but from farther away, it almost looks like stripes. So it's kind of a pattern-mixing with the skirt.

This skirt, I'm pretty sure I got for around $4-5 when The Loft had a crazy clearance sale a few years ago. Got to love when that happens :)

I also love the change in seasons to spring/summer. I get to wear a whole new half of my wardrobe that was neglected over the colder months! Like skirts and peep-toe shoes. Hopefully that will help me be more creative in my outfits from now on :)

Aztec Maxi

I mentioned yesterday that while I was at Target over the weekend, two items just happened to come home with me. I don't even know how it happened. The second item was this maxi skirt. With all the fun colors and pattern, I couldn't resist. That, and Cartwheel had 20% off maxi skirts that was expiring that day. Don't need to convince me further.

Maxi Skirt: Target
Shirt: Target
Jean Jacket: Old Navy
Sandals: Payless
Earrings: Gift
Necklace: Edith Marie

I decided to wear a teal colored top to play off the teal in the skirt. And if you have a good eye, you can see that my necklace is the one I got from Edith Marie last month. I decided to wear it backwards, though, so it looks all gold, instead of turquoise. Sneaky sneaky. I do like how the 'v' kind of goes with the Aztec pattern.

Target does have some other cute maxi skirts in their store right now. With a price tag of under $20 (actually mine ended up being about $14 with the Cartwheel discount) how can you say no? I might end up taking another one home with me :)

Chambray and White

I went to Target over the weekend to get a birthday card for my brother and a couple pieces of clothing jumped into my hands. I have no idea how it happened, but they convinced me to take them home with them. Of course I couldn't say no, so now I have two new bottoms in my wardrobe.

One of them is this pair of white capris. I've had my eye out for white pants/capris for awhile, but most of what I've tried on are way too thin and clingy. I like these because they have a bit of a stretch, but aren't a second pair of skin. They are slightly see-through (which I suppose most white pants are), but nothing a pair of nude underwear can't remedy.

Chambray: Old Navy
Capris: Denizen from Target
Sandals: hand-me-down
Necklace: Gift

I wore this outfit over the weekend on Mother's Day. We had my family over for a grill-out, and major score for not spilling anything on them! The weather was pretty warm in the earlier part of the day, but by the evening it got to be quite cool, so the longer sleeves of the chambray helped.

I think I'd still like to find a pair of white pants, but for now the capris will work :) Now if only it would finally stay warmer here longer than half a day we'd be set!

Coral, White, Turquoise: Take 2

Hello readers! Sorry to be MIA last week. I think I mentioned a couple weeks ago how my doctor wants me off caffeine for my headaches. Well, last Saturday was my first day without any sort of caffeine and I had terrible headaches most of last week! It was not fun at all. I'm hoping it'll solve my problems, though, because I sure do miss my morning cup of coffee!

A couple weeks ago, I showed how I styled coral, white, and turquoise for work. You can find that post here.

Here is the same color-scheme, but styled casually.

Top: Target
Cardigan: Banana Republic Outlet
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Toms (gift)
Scarf: Plato's Closet
Necklace: Edith Marie
Earrings: Target

You can see a little bit of the turquoise in the necklace I layered under a scarf (it was still pretty cold this day!). Perfect outfit for running errands!

Sharon Dress from eShakti

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by eShakti asking if I'd be willing to do a review for them on one of their products. I've seen other bloggers out there reviewing their beautiful dresses and skirts and I was so excited to choose one of my own!

eShakti is an online company specializing in women's fashion clothing. Their sizes range from 0-36W as well as doing custom pieces made to your measurements. You are also able to customize your item to your specifications: you can change the neckline, sleeve length, overall length of the dress, and remove pockets and other embellishments. It's pretty neat! Essentially, two people can order the exact same dress and have it be completely different! I also love that a lot of their designs have a 50's vintage feel to them. Very unique compared with all the same types of dresses you find in stores nowadays.

When choosing a dress to review, I knew I wanted a fun dress for the summer; there were so many cute styles to choose from! I ended up getting the Sharon Dress in yellow.

I measured myself to check what size I would be and it ended up being that my lower half was one size while my upper half was one size smaller. Rather than choosing the larger of the two sizes, I decided to upload my measurements to get a custom piece created. I was super nervous about this because I've never got a custom piece made before! But it fit very well! I was very impressed!

I decided to keep the pockets, because who doesn't love pockets in a dress! I decided to leave the neckline as listed, but got the dress knee-length instead of below the knee.

Dress: eShakti
Cardigan: Old Navy
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Edith Marie
Earrings and bracelets: Target

Here is a close-up of the embroidery design on the bottom of the dress:

I also love that this dress has little snaps in the strap to keep your bra in place! Because no one likes bra straps with a mind of their own...

I do have to say there is only one thing I don't like about this dress: it's made from 100% cotton, so it wrinkles like crazy! I wore it to church and on the drive over I got all sorts of little wrinkles when sitting in the car. I guess I just have to dust off my iron more often :)

There is a *special promo code for Not Fancy, Just Life readers for the month of May: 10% off your purchase with the code 'fancylives'! The code is valid now through May 30th.

'Coral', White, and Turquoise

Today's outfit is loosely based on this pin:

White crochet top, coral blazer with a pop of turquoise on your wrist!

I flipped the coral blazer for a white one, a white top for a coral/pink one, and put the pop of turquoise on my neck.

Pants: The Limited
Top: Target
Blazer: Goodwill
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Edith Marie
Earrings and Bracelets: Target

You guys, I didn't look through my pictures after they were taken and this is the only one that turned out! Ugh. So frustrating when that happens.

Anyway, I found this top in the clearance section at Target this past week! Some lights it looks coral and others pink. But it's such a fun, Springy color and I love how the material almost has a crocheted look to it.Maybe if I keep wearing Spring colors, it will finally arrive here in MN!
