If you look anywhere on Pinterest, you'll see a printed skirt worn with a denim jacket. Kind of an easy recreation, maybe too easy to recreate :) (or maybe something I found after I wore the outfit...) Adding a jean jacket is also an easy way to bring maxi skirts and dresses into Fall.

September Budget

It's the end of another month, so that means it's time to link up with Fran and the other budgeting bloggers to share what we spent for the month. Here are my purchases for September:

1. Loft skinny jeans: $34.75
2. Old Navy Pixie pants: $25
3. Target boyfriend cardigan- oatmeal: $12
4. Target boyfriend cardigan- black: $12 (sorry didn't have a picture of that one!)

Total = $83.75

I did end up going above my monthly budget by $3.75, but everything I got was on sale, and everything was on my clothing wish-list (and the black cardigan was a replacement item for an old black cardigan I had). I've been keeping a wish-list of clothing items I'd like to get, so hopefully that will help me keep on track when I go shopping- that I can go shopping with a purpose instead of buying things here and there.

How did you do with your monthly spending?

I was pretty excited when Fran announced that she was going to have a bloopers link-up. Not only are they a hoot to look at (and reminds us that not all pictures have to be magazine quality!), but I have several that I wanted to share! I did choose a ton to show you, but they were all too fun not to! I know some of you bloggers categorized them by what you were doing in the pictures, but to save time, I just make a monthly collage going back to March. You will notice some common themes- fixing my hair or outfit, funny smiles, awkward jazz hands when I'm trying to end the photo shoot... enjoy!

Fall Colors

Hello ladies :) This is an outfit I wore to work last week. I've been sitting on my couch watching episodes of "House of Cards" and "Dance Academy" on Netflix trying to figure out what to say about this outfit (yay for having internet at home!). I guess there's nothing too special about it, but it feels very Fall to me with the mix of maroon pants and cream cardigan. It's still been warmer here so I could get away with the peep-toe shoes, but added a cardigan for the cold AC temps at work!

Top: Thrifted (similar/similar)
Pants: The Limited (same style)

Favorite Fall Fashions

Fall is one of my favorite times of year (when I'm actually ready to let the summer weather go!). The cool weather is nice as well as everything that goes with it: pumpkin spice everything, warm drinks, layers, all the holidays, etc. Here are some of my favorite clothing items to wear for the cooler months ahead! I will share with you some cute styles available for purchase now, as well as ways I've styled them in the past year. I'll be honest, a lot of these looks are from winter instead of fall, but since I started my blog last October, I don't have many fall outfits to choose from.

1. Scarves

I think scarves are my favorite cold-weather accessory! Not only do they look stylish, but they keep you warm (which, let's face it, in MN we need all the help we can get!)

Boots come in so many varieties: riding, heel, wedge, booties, over the knee, the list goes on! I have a pair of brown and a pair of black riding boots and I wore them all fall and winter last year. As you can see in the pictures, I wore them a lot to work with skirts or dresses.

3. Sweaters

Sweaters are warm and cozy- 'nuf said :) Also, at Target this week, boyfriend cardigans are on sale for $15, PLUS if you use Cartwheel you get an extra 20% off! I went on Tuesday and they were already out of a lot of colors, but I got a cream colored one and a black one to replace an old black cardigan I have. Can't beat a cardigan for $12!

4. Plaid

I officially only own one plaid shirt, but I think plaid in general just screams fall, don't you think?

5. Dark Nail Polish

I don't have any pictures of me wearing dark nail polish, but I just love them when the weather starts getting cool! Navy, dark gray, maroon, all game in my book :)

I go back and forth each week of picking my outfits in advance and picking them out when I get up in the morning. Last week I ended up picking my outfits out in the morning when I got up; sometimes when I do that I don't feel like they come together well (probably for lack of time), but I was really surprised by what I came up with!

This shirt is the other one I got from Old Navy a couple weeks ago. I previously wore it casually and this time I wanted to try styling it for work. It's hard to tell, but the stripes in the shirt are navy, so I kept things in the blue family with my cardigan. I really like how the blues go with the red of my hair! Kind of a mix of nautical and patriotic.

Sadie wanted a chance in my pictures too :)

Green popover

Hello ladies! I hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was pretty busy- we went camping Friday night to Saturday afternoon. The lows on Saturday night were in the 30's, so it got pretty cold when we were sleeping! We had on so many layers and blankets and Zoe ended up being our little heater in between us. But we had fun and did lots of walking! Yesterday we put together a buffet/island for our kitchen and I actually did some baking and make pretzels! I love cooking, but I hardly ever bake (mainly because I eat everything I make!).

Last Sunday (so a week ago) I finally got around to dying my hair! I'm cheap and like to do it myself, and I had bought a box of dye a couple months ago, but just never got around to doing it. The color is Malaysian Cherry and it's a deep red. (I actually used to dye my hair deep red all throughout high school.) I feel like it really gives a pop to my outfits, especially certain colors like this green top I'm wearing below!

Top: Target (similar/similar)
Pants: The Limited (similar)
Shoes: Target (similar/similar)
Necklace: Purple Peridot (different color/Kendra Scott)

It's kind of hard to tell from these inside pictures what color my hair is, but I have a picture tomorrow outside so you'll be able to tell better. But I really like the contrast of the red against the green! It's crazy how a change of hair can really change the dynamic of an outfit!

Here's a couple of other ways I've styled this top:

Whoops, again sorry for the sunny pictures :-P I wore this outfit on our first cool day last week. Of course the next day it was back into the 80's, but at least I got to bust out my cool-weather gear! I knew I wanted to layer something with my vest, so I decided on my trusty plaid top from Old Navy, which kind of makes me look like I'm ready to go camping, haha. I decided to pair this outfit with my Kendra Scott-inspired earrings (which were only $3!!) to make my outfit a little more glam, hence 'glamping!'

Plaid top: Old Navy (similar)
Vest: Old Navy (same)
Shoes: Toms (same)

Here's my face! haha We actually do have some 'real' camping planned soon, so I may have to at least recreate the vest and top, add some hiking boots and I'll be all set to go!

Black and White Stripes

I got this top from Old Navy during their Labor Day sale. Oh my goodness, it is pretty much amazing! It is super soft, and I feel like the black and white stripes are such a classic look I can easily dress it up or down. In this case, I wore it with khakis and my new Kendra Scott inspired necklace for a day at work.

 Top: Old Navy
Pants: The Limited (similar)
Necklace: Purple Peridot (original Kendra Scott)
Earrings: The Limited (similar/I also like these)

I don't know about you guys, but I feel like Old Navy has really been stepping up their game lately! I've always liked them (although in the past their items were really hit or miss), but I've really liked their clothes and their quality lately! When I got this shirt, I also got another striped tank top/blouse, and it's hand-wash only! That's not something you would have seen from them in the past. I think this is especially nice because now you can have a higher-quality piece of clothing without having to shell out a fortune!

Maroon and Chevron

Bah, sorry about the shadows on my face! What the heck sun... way to ruin my pictures... :-P Anyway, this was an outfit I wore over the weekend. I love my maxi skirts/dresses, but honestly it's been too hot to wear them lately! With temps in the 80's this summer, I'd much rather wear shorts. This weekend it was in the lovely 70's, so I decided to break out this skirt again and wear it with this much neglected top, aka the one I wore the day I met my hubby :)

Maxi: JC Penney (same in Tall/similar)
Tee: The Limited (similar)
Necklace: Purple Peridot (PP site/Kendra Scott)
Flats: Old Navy (similar) [I promise I'm wearing shoes, they just disappear in the grass!]

In other news, I really like this pink/purple (I don't know if I'd call it maroon, but it's not really pink or purple either. What do you think?) color paired with black! I feel like black paired with a brighter color gives a very fall-vibe to an otherwise warm-weather piece of clothing. Yup, and that is about all I have to say on that subject. One day closer to the weekend! :)
