Thrifting Thursday

It has been quite awhile since I've gone thrifting, but was able to do some over this past weekend while waiting for our movie to start next door, so I thought I'd show you what I found! As I was looking for things hubby came up to me, looked at my pile of clothes in my hands and said "looks like a bunch of things you already own" :) Hey, if your style works, why change it! Also, sorry about the quality of these pictures- lighting in the fitting rooms is always awful!

1. Ted Baker Shirt

I have never heard of this brand before, but from what I can tell on Google, he is a London designer and you can purchase some of his clothing through Nordstrom. I love stripes and I thought this bow detail in the back was cute, but I wasn't feeling the puffy shoulders, so back it went.

2. The Limited Sweater

I actually have this same sweater in green and I do love mustard yellow, but I just decided that I didn't love it enough to buy it. Bye-bye mustard.

3. Merona Cardigan

I loved the idea of this cardigan- light and flowy, pretty color, but it just looked way too frumpy. Ain't nobody got time for that...

4. Chris & Carol Cardigan

Once again, this is a brand I was unfamiliar with, but a quick Google search showed me that this is a brand you can get through Zulily. It has stripes (one of my most favorite clothing loves at the present), it is very soft and very light weight. It was $6.99, which is on the higher end of what I'd pay at a thrift store, but still you can't go wrong for a cardigan under $10! This was a keeper :)

5. Talbots Cardigan

Another striped cardigan. But honestly this must have been made of a pokey cactus or something because it was super itchy! I decided to pass based on that alone.

6. American Eagle Sweater

I did like this sweater quite a bit, but it was too similar in style and color to something I already own and I'm not a huge fan of 3/4 sleeves in the winter, so I passed. I did like these cute buttons on the sleeves:

7. Forever 21 Blouse

It's hard to tell, but the top is leopard print, which I always think is fun :) I just wasn't feeling the fit of this, though, so decided not to keep it.

8. The Limited Top

I really wanted this one to work. I loved the color- it's something I don't have much of in my closet, but it's a size too big, so I decided to put it back (even though it was on sale for $1.49!)

9. Basic Editions Sweater

Google says this is a brand from K-mart and Sears. I honestly don't think this was ever worn, though! I love the color and it's very warm, so I decided to keep it. It was also 1/2 off, so it ended up being $3.99! Can't beat that price for a sweater!

10. Mossimo Sweater

I wish this was a size smaller and a little bit longer, because I really liked it, but just too short and boxy this time around.

11. Mossimo Cardigan

I loved the color of this cardigan but it just fit way too small. Pass.

12. A Giannetti Sweater

I wanted this to work! I was hoping it would be like those cute, Aztec sweaters you see around lately. It was not. Basically a circle with sleeves. No thanks.

I don't think I did too bad- 2 sweaters for $10.98! This trip I think really showed how I've developed a new purpose when shopping- there were quite a few more things I could have gotten because they were a good deal or because I kinda sorta liked it, but I passed. I'm really trying to shop lately with a mentality of do I love it? Do I need it? How many ways can I wear it? There have been too many times I've bought something just because it's too good of a deal to pass up, then it sits unused in my closet. I do keep a wishlist of items I'd like on my phone, so hopefully that will continue to help cut back on willy-nilly spending :)

  3. You find some great items. I used to be the same way. Just buy items b/c of the price and not wearing them. I still do the same thing from the recycling center just b/c the item were J crew.

  4. I really like the striped cardigan you got - it's a basic but it's "different" enough to get tons of wear!!! I agree with Kate - I love posts like this!!

  5. I agree with your choices here! That American Eagle sweater was adorable but I feel exactly the same way about a sweater with anything less than long sleeve. My one exception is a sweater thick enough to layer under which is what I do. You found some adorable sweaters for cheap!

  6. You got exactly the ones I would have if I were you! The teal sweater you got is so pretty!
