August Spending

I'm still having a hard time believing it's the end of August already! The summer flew by way too fast! The end of the month means it's time to link up with Fran and the other budgeting bloggers to share what we spent for the month.

I've been doing this for a few months, but I don't think I ever shared what I actually budget for clothes. We specifically budget $40 each for hubby and I for clothes a month. This may not seem like much at all, but we also each have a $40 'slush' amount each month that we can use for whatever we want. Most of the time, I will choose to spend this on clothes or jewelry, so actually my monthly budget can be up to $80. This still may not seem like a lot to some (and honestly it can get away from me some months!), but I really do my best to shop sales, clearance racks, and thrift stores, so I can really make this amount stretch!

1. Kendra Scott inspired black necklace (Purple Paridot): $16.98
2. Kendra Scott inspired pink necklace (Instagram shop) : $20
3. Gold Cleo necklace (GroopDealz): $10.98
4. Gold leaf necklace (Thrifted): $2.38 [actually got this at the end of July]
5. Red dot necklace (Old Navy): $0.00 [free for being a card holder]
6. Utility vest (Old Navy): $23.95
7. Kensie girl sandals (Thrifted): $3.25 [also got at the end of July]

Total = $77.54 (actually only spent $71.91 in August)

This is under my $80 budget, so I'm happy with that. I was definitely on a jewelry kick this month! I've had my eye on the Kendra Scott necklaces for awhile now, but there's no way I can justify the $80 price tag. So I was excited to learn of other places that sell inspiration necklaces for way cheaper! I am still waiting for them to come in the mail, but I know they will go with just about everything in my closet!

Also, this vest? 'Nuf said. I'm so happy I finally found one in my size in a store near me! So many bloggers out there are styling them in such cute ways for all 4 seasons. I'm excited to transition this into fall and winter! If you are on the fence about getting one, I'll make up your mind for you. Do it!! They go with everything! Although I find they do sell out quickly, so hopefully more places will carry them for the upcoming season!

How did you do with your August budget?
