On the beach

Before I get to today's post, I wanted to let you know about what's going to be happening next week, just in case I don't get to another post this week. I'm collaborating with the very sweet Ada from Elegance & Mommyhood to bring you a fun theme week! You can probably guess by reading my blog, but I love saving money and getting things on the cheap! That is the whole idea for our theme week: to show you how you can get some of the summer's most popular trends without breaking the bank. Here is what our week will consist of:

Monday: Maxi Skirt/Dress
Tuesday: Statement Necklace
Wednesday: Graphic Tee
Thursday: Midi Dress/Skirt
Friday: Gladiator Sandals

We are focusing on getting each item for $20 or less, and our entire outfit we are sharing with you won't cost more than $75. We are having a linkup open for the entire week (it will run the 14th through the 23rd, so you have plenty of time to join us!) so you can share with us and others how you do summer's trends on the cheap! You can link up one day, two days, or all five days! So make sure you keep an eye out for that next week and join in on the fun :)

Over the 4th of July weekend, we were in Door County. We stayed right on Lake Michigan, but did a lot of sightseeing inland, so I brought a lot of things I could layer together. Here is actually the only outfit I ended up taking pictures of:

Dress: Target (exact)
Chambray: Old Navy
Sandals: Target
Necklace: Farmers' Market Stand
Earrings: Target

You guys, I seriously love this dress! Haha, I love it so much I think I've worn it 3 times since I got it a week ago... But it's super comfortable and flowy! It is a tad long on me- it's just above the floor if I'm wearing wedges or heels, but if I'm wearing flats, I have to hike up the elastic waist up pretty far. Under the chambray, though, it's not even noticeable! So I'm still debating on whether or not I want to try hemming it, or just leave it as is.

A fun thing that we do every year is go to the Farmers' Market in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday mornings. They have quite a few jewelry booths there, but one in particular always catches my eye! I got two necklaces from them last year ($10 each!) and this floral one this year! I think it's so unique. It really caught my eye, and being a neutral silver, I can wear it with pretty much anything! gives a fun pop to an otherwise more plain outfit.

  10. Love how you've worn a denim shirt almost as a jacket. It changes the whole look from wearing a maxi on its own. Love the beach shots! I wish I could go to the beach, you're so lucky!
