A Maxi For All Seasons

Hey guys! I'm linking up to Many Days Many Ways with Danielle, Ginny, and Nicole.

If you're like me, and I'm sure that most of the US is, you are TERRIBLY sick of winter!! I'm so anxious for the warmer weather, spending some time outside, shedding the bulky layers. One of my favorite things to wear in the summer is a maxi dress; so cool and flowy. But why do I have to save them for warm weather? Why can't I wear them all year round? And so the inspiration for today's post :) I started with one of my favorite maxis- a gray target number (I got from one of their daily online deals for $15), then figured all the ways I could make it appropriate for 4 seasons.

Spring

Come spring, I'm so anxious to ditch my winter coat and the heavy sweaters and let my arms breathe! I paired this dress with a short-sleeve cardigan, a lightweight scarf (just in case the weather turns cool), and some colorful flats to add a pop to the neutral dress. Actually the entire outfit minus the scarf comes from Target! Definitely one of my favorite places to shop for clothes :)

Summer

Summers can get pretty hot in Minnesota (that is once the snow finally melts...). I like to keep my outfits cool and simple. So that's why I just kept the dress simple- threw on some sunglasses, a long necklace, and some sandals. This would also be cute as a swim suit cover-up with a colorful beach bag!

Fall

For Fall, I still want to keep things simple, but add some more layers for the cooler weather. I put a colorful tank over the dress to give it more of a skirt-effect, then added a jean jacket, scarf, and chucks.

Winter

I've actually never worn my dress like this, but this might be one of my favorite ways to style it! I paired it with a chunky sweater for those cold, polar vortex days, a long necklace, and my Sorrels :) Got to keep those tootsies warm!

What are some of your favorite ways to style a maxi dress?

  8. I definitely need to get me a maxi dress! I have 2 skirts already, but I think I'd rather a dress like yours. My favorite of these is the fall look. I would have never thought to try sneakers with a maxi! I actually think I'll have to coy that look soon :)
