Weekend Happenings/ "Spring" Outfit

Happy Monday! Are you all ready to face another week? I would be a lot more ready if we had better weather here! I feel like that's all I've been talking about lately, but we have another Polar Vortex coming!! Seriously Mother Nature?! And someone so lovingly reminded us all on Facebook that in 2012, the first few weeks of March found highs ranging from the low 60's to the low 80's... I did see an extended temperature trend on the news this weekend and they said around March 10th, we should start to see our warm up. I hope so! I think we deserve some nice weather after what we've experienced. But, at least, no one will (hopefully!) complain about the heat this summer!

Friday

Even though the snow was over by the morning, the roads were crazy! They still are really, but we had wet, heavy snow on Thursday, so by Friday morning it was all packed down and the streets are ice sheets! Needless to say, no one was going over 30 mph on any road, even the freeways.

Our office isn't open on Fridays, but I always go in during the mornings to answer the phones and get the mail. Because of the roads, I waited until about 10:30 to head into work. I stayed for a couple hours to get some work done, then went home, had lunch, did my usual Friday errands to Target/CVS/grocery store. I also brought my wedding ring in to get redipped. It will be ready tomorrow evening, but I've had a naked hand since Friday! Not liking it :( We had pizza for dinner and watched TV to round out our night.

Since I'm so sick of the winter (especially on Friday), I decided to rebel against it and wear a spring outfit. I really like the pattern mixing of the floral scarf and the stripped shirt, and the pastel pink sweater really gives it that spring feel! Now if I could only wear it with cropped pants and flats instead of boots...

Shirt: Gap
Sweater: Old Navy (hand-me-down)
Jeans: Gap
Boots: Just Fab
Scarf: New York and Co.
Earrings: Gift (homemade)

Saturday

I started off my day like most days with a big cup of coffee! I did some reading/watched some of my favorite shows on the Live Well Network. After I was ready to go for the day, I tried my luck selling some of my clothes at Plato's Closet and Clothes Mentor. Between the two places, I sold 5 items for $12.20. I never have much luck selling things there. Now I'm wondering what to do with the rest of it- Some of the items have hardly been worn, so I'm debating on whether to try to sell them on e-bay, set up a 'shop my closet' on my blog, or just donate them to Goodwill. I did buy a leopard-print scarf at Plato's Closet for $4, so I guess my errands weren't a total waste!

I was going to go down to a show choir competition with my dad, but the roads were still terrible and this place was kind of out in the country, so we decided not to go. Instead, I got a couple projects done/started around the house. I didn't feel like cooking dinner (again...) so we got Chinese take-out and rented a movie from Redbox. This Chinese place by our house is really good! Plus their portions are HUGE! My meal made 3 different meals!! I love when that happens :)

Sunday

Sunday we started off the morning with church, then just kind of putzed the day away. I read, went through my coupon binder, watched TV, nothing too exciting. I made meatloaf for dinner, then watched the season 4 finale of Downton Abbey, which I was very happy with how they ended the season!

How was everyone else's weekend? Do anything fun?

  1. I'm all about bright colors to combat the cold. We have flurries today :( I just started an igcloset on Instagram, maybe give that a try. I've had pretty good success selling things this past weekend.

  3. Oh I know I never have luck with Plato's Closet either- but with my sister transferring there soon I hope for some discounts or sales offers. Plato's has so many chic and stylish finds its like "where to begin" cute blog and love the outfit. Visiting from #mondaybloom. Would love if you came by my blog sometime. Love Rachel Xx

    1. I know, I almost get overwhelmed when I go to places like that. I need to just set aside a couple hours to look through everything! Thanks for stopping by!

    2. Haha Plato's actually frustrates me (I have a hard time finding something that looks good on me and my figure at the best price/budget) but I love it.

  4. I've heard of that Shop My Closet thing before but never tried it. I wonder if a lot of people really do that. I also need to get rid of some clothes. Let me know if you end up trying it out!

    1. I'm still debating on what to do! We don't have internet at home- just on our phones for now, so it's kind of hard just being able to use it at work and I know if I sell my things online, I would need to access it more frequently. Hmm. I might just give up and donate everything, but we will see!
